AARP “Grandparents
Raising Grandchildren” |
In
today’s
society, AARP recognized that many grandparents are raising
grandchildren for a wide variety of reasons. The trend was prevalent
enough that AARP established the “AARP Grandparent Information Center”
(CIG). With many military members, especially Reserve and National Guard
members deployed away from home, and sometimes both parents or a single
parent gone from home, parents of these deployed military members have
assumed responsibility for raising their grandchildren.
AAPR is promoting its
grandparent services and information to these parents of military
members who have assumed the primary childcare responsibility in place
of the parents. If VFW and Ladies Auxiliary members are either raising
grandchildren or know grandparents who are raising their grandchildren,
AARP has much information to share:
